Registration Opens for 49th Annual BMW Dallas Marathon Weekend

Texas’ longest running marathon announces the Friday Night Lights Mile and enhanced weekend participant experiences

(DALLAS) – Registration for the 2019 BMW Dallas Marathon Weekend is officially open. The Marathon’s parent organization, runDallas, is excited to kick-off registration for its annual marquee event, which attracts more than 20,000 runners and 100,000 spectators from around the world and benefits the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children.

“The BMW Dallas Marathon is one of the most cherished traditions in the City of Dallas, and we are proud that it serves as a catalyst to bring together the entire community in the spirit of health and wellness,” said Paul Lambert, president of runDallas, a nonprofit organization. “The Dallas Marathon is a destination for athletes and families of all fitness levels – our 2019 portfolio of events offer something for everyone to enjoy.”

The weekend of events is sponsored by BMW of North America and the five DFW BMW Centers. The Health and Fitness Expo starts Friday, Dec. 13 at Bailey Hutchinson Convention Center, where participants can pick up packets and have the opportunity to collect information and merchandise from running, fitness and health-related vendors. Admission into the Expo is free for both participants and spectators, and runs through Saturday.

The newest addition to the Marathon’s weekend of events is the Friday Night Mile, which will take place Friday evening and feature rolling heats based on age groups starting at 7 p.m. Participants and spectators alike can enjoy music, food and beverages while they witness the fastest mile runners of all ages in Dallas-Fort Worth compete in this event. Registration for this event is $19.

Saturday’s lineup will be comprised of popular returning events, including the 2-mile walk, 5K and 10K runs. In addition, families are encouraged to come out and partake in the kids’ races, which will include the 100m, 400m and 800m.

The annual BMW Dallas Marathon, Half Marathon, Ultra Marathon and SMU Cox School of Business Relays will run on Sunday, Dec. 15. The relay will feature new half or full marathon options, which will have teams of two or four people respectively; allowing all relay runners to experience the start and finish line of the marathon. Full and ultra marathon participants will enjoy Dallas’ iconic marathon course, which includes racing from downtown Dallas, through stately neighborhoods, around White Rock Lake and back to downtown Dallas. Half marathoners and all relay runners will experience the same fast half marathon route as last year with the last five miles generally going downhill and straight to the finish line at City Hall.

Participants can register for the BMW Dallas Marathon Weekend of Events starting today. BMW Weekend Series participants who register and complete the 5K or 10K on Saturday and BMW Dallas Marathon, Half Marathon or 50K Ultra Marathon on Sunday, will earn a bonus medal, custom finisher jacket and other amenities.

The BMW Dallas Marathon Weekend of Events directly benefits the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children. Since being named as the primary beneficiary in 1997, the Dallas Marathon has donated more than $4 million to the hospital.
